Today in class we had to sign up on common app so we could pick 5 different colleges and then had to write an college admission essay and the essay had to be at least 250 words on it.
We learned that an argument is a statement of opinion backed up by evidence. This is an argument composed of three distinct components: the speaker, the purpose, and the reason. A rhetorical triangle consists of Logos, Ethos, and pathos. A claim is an opinion and a topic. A claim can be a claim of fact, a claim of value, or a claim of policy.
As a group, we participated in exercises 1 and 3 on Tuesday. As part of the first exercise, we had to use vocabulary words such as Bombastic, Carpal, cajoled etc., as well as other vocabulary words as well. In exercise 3, there was a multiple choice question that asked you to describe the vocabulary words as best as you could.
